About

Hi, I’m Caneel Joyce.

I’m an ideawoman, a leadership coach, facilitator, culture consultant, startup strategist, speaker and creator. I live in Los Angeles and spend lots of time in my old home of San Francisco. I’ve lived in five countries and had more fun in my life than is probably legal in at least four of them. I’m a proud mama of two and the luckiest wife there ever was.

My company Kickass Enterprises helps CEOs, founders, and C-suite executives step into their full power, create healthy and authentic relationships with their teams, bring their vision to the world through technology and humanity, and build kickass companies with soul. As a coach I listen deeply and create space for my clients to arrive at clarity and insight. I draw upon training, intuition, and over 15 years of tech and startup experience. I’ve held a variety of executive and managerial roles spanning product, marketing, growth, and strategy.  I was head of growth at Britely, which was acquired by Groupon. I’ve advised, consulted, and coached clients at Slack, Snapchat, Tumblr, Mozilla, Nutmeg, Aspiration, Panasonic, and Nutmeg.

I have a PhD in organizational behavior from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and after a brief tenure as a professor of management at the LSE, I now occasionally guest lecture and teach at Stanford’s d.School. My dissertation was about the effects of constraint on creativity. I have published original research on creativity, innovation, and design teams. I have taught MBA and executive courses including Organizational Change, Innovation, New Product Development, Negotiations, and Leadership.

My passion project and calling is The Trust, a movement of amazing women gathering in intimate facilitated circles to support each other in stepping into our full creative power.
